The Iowa Podiatric Medical Society (IPMS) will be hosting the annual Heartland Podiatry Conference next week in Des Moines, Iowa. The meeting will take place over the course of four days (from October 3 to 6) and is being held in conjunction with the Nebraska Podiatric Medical Society and the Scientific Committee.
Conference organizers are expecting podiatrists from Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, and other surrounding states, as well as podiatry EMR vendors and other industry-leading exhibitors.
There will also be multiple workshops offered throughout the four-day conference, and lectures will be held on a variety of topics, ranging from wound care to risky podiatric problems. Some of the stand out lectures on the agenda include: “Ankle Instability Correction Using an Interference Screw” and “My Most Interesting Case by the Heartland Scientific Committee.”
Nurses and assistants will benefit from lectures such as “ICD-10 & Basic Coding Updates,” “Integrating Social Media into Your Practice,” “How to Respond to Hostile Behavior in the Workplace,” and “HIPAA, HITECH and Employee Issues – How Digital Devices are Changing our Practices and Problems.”
Conference organizers will also be hosting activities meant to inform physicians of the changes occurring in the podiatric marketplace. Meanwhile, on Thursday, conference participants are invited to an exhibitor reception in the Exhibit Hall where they can meet exhibitors, see live demos of EMR software for podiatrists, and talk to other podiatrists and nurses in attendance.
Podiatrists from Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota who attend the conference will be able to qualify for up to 25 continuing education (CME) credit hours. To view a list of approved workshops and their corresponding credits, refer to the Doctor’s Program on IPMS’ website. Nursing continue education credits (CEU) have also been approved by the Des Moines Area Community College.
